Transfer Center

Transfer Center

Located at the corner of 11th and Washington Street, the downtown transfer center allows for transfers between the majority of day and night routes. Amenities at each stop include covered canopies, bus shelters with benches, and real-time departure boards.

Customer Service Waiting Area

Bus passes can be purchased at ticket vending machines or at the customer service window. Customer service hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. The customer waiting area inside the building contains drink and snack vending machines, USB charging stations, and public restrooms.

Bus Departure Process

Arriving buses park at their designated stop, lining up in the order in which they arrive.

Departure boards at each stop indicate which routes will stop there and their upcoming departure times.

Bus Stop D on the east side of the Transfer Center is currently serviced by FlixBus and Greyhound routes. SMTD is not associated with these services. Please contact them directly:

Greyhound: 1-800-231-2222

FlixBus: 1-855-626-8585

New Amtrak Station Coming in 2027

Construction of a new Amtrak station and parking garage on the west side of the 10th Street rail is projected to be completed in 2027. A pedestrian bridge over the tracks will connect the train station with the SMTD transfer center, allowing for connections between both services. Visit springfieldrailroad.com and sangamonil.gov/thehub for more information on the project.
